American History I (prehistory-1877) Eighth Grade
This class offers a study of the major events from colonization through reconstruction in United States history. Course content will also include activities to increase map skills and geographic competency. Students will read, discuss, evaluate and create maps, diagrams, and other models relating to American history during this period. They will also be able to write about events that shaped the nation.
This course will be conducted as a "hybrid" course, heavily relying on online activity. Many of our college courses today are offered online and it is my goal to begin preparing our students for that future. Every venue of life today incorporates some aspect of online or digitized activity: video games, smartphones, Netflix, the transaction of a burger and fries at the local fast food restaurant. The lives of our students are saturated by digital technology and I believe that our teaching should reflect that. Students will directly interact within this course through the use of this website and other resources.
